Festival of Nonviolence and Peacemaking - Akron

A celebration of nonviolence and peace through music and festivities, including a beautiful ceremony where we turn guns used for harm into garden tools that can be used to heal. You can also get trained in nonviolence and peacemaking. Let's build peace together!

  • General Festival Admission

    *Admission to the festival is FREE but you have the option to "pay what you want". Join the peace movement and help us offset the cost of the festival!

  • Workshop: Alt's to Violence

    This is an experiential workshop on conflict transformation facilitated by Rev Joyce Penfield of Peacebuilders Academy. 10 am @ Circle Stage at Cascade Plaza

  • Workshop: Intersections of NV

    This workshop will equip and inspire people of faith to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly through the ways of the nonviolent historical figure of Jesus so that EVERYONE can flourish. Facilitated by Shane Claiborne. 11 am @ Summit County Library Meeting Room

  • Workshop: Grief Recovery

    Grief Recovery Summit County Library | 2 pm - 3 pm ​​ Is your heart broken? Are you feeling hopeless? Do you feel devastated? Grief Recovery Method is an action-based program for moving beyond death, divorce, and other losses, including health, career, and faith. ​Facilitated by Lori Porter, Love Akron. 2 pm @ Summit County Library Meeting Room

  • Workshop: Community Organizing

    Who's community? Our community! How do we build power for everyday people through community organizing? This workshop is for folk who are already organizing and for those who want to learn more about it. Let's build relationships, power, and peace! Facilitated by Freedom Bloc. 3 pm @ Summit County Library

  • Workshop: Nonviolence 4 Youth

    Youth, are you tired of being talked at and about? Bet. This workshop is for you. Your voice matters. Your power matters. This workshop will affirm and amplify your voice and provide you with tools that will help you join the work of building a better world. Facilitated by Youth Success Summit. 4 pm @ Summit County Library

  • Healing Circle Conversation

    Amid the trauma our community continues to face, one way we can heal ourselves is through emotional connectedness or collective community conversation. In our time together, you will find liberation in this space as we "breathe at our own pace," and find rest to be made whole. Facilitated by Project Ujima. 4 pm @ Love Akron Office
